Gears of War for PC – Confirmed!

admin - Wednesday, July 11, 2007

Some of you may have remembered last week an accidental leak over the Internet of what was believed to be footage of Gears of War for the PC, prior to this Microsoft were tight lipped about plans for the PC-port of this title, which pointed many eager non-360 owners towards E3 2007 to get the final and official word on this epic title.

At the highly anticipated Microsoft E3 2007 press conference, it was made official that (undoubtedly) one of the Xbox 360’s most popular titles will be making its way to the PC. There will apparently be five new single player chapters along with Brumak battles.  A map editor is also expected to make its way out to the public, which obviously opens up a whole realm of possibilities for the modding community. A few extra maps/stages along with additional multiplayer maps shall be available as well as new achievements to… achieve!

The PC version of Gears of War will have full Windows XP and Vista support, this was demonstrated at the Press conference with Epic Game’s Founder (makers of Gears of War) – Cliff Bleszinski showing footage and game-play live in front of the audience.

You can actually view the linked footage here, several members of the community have commented that it does appear to run slightly smoother on PC from what the Xbox 360 has shown . For those are not familiar with the Gears of War phenomenon, you can view one of the trailers here.

Specific details are a little scarce at the moment, but I’m sure this will be a big news item for several other gaming sites. In the mean time, please take the time to check out a few of the links below:
