 The console that could! The PS3 has been blitzing headlines on game sites over the few last weeks, the doom and gloom predicted by rivalling fanboys has all but come true for the 10 year system.

 

I think this is great news for Sony and the gaming community in general, as consumers – we will directly reap the benefits of this fierce competition and push the manufacturers and game designers to the limit.

  • It was bound to happen, South Park take on Guitar Hero in last week's episode aired in the US.
  • Blizzard's dominating World of Warcraft has hit 9.3 million subscribers world wide.
  • America's Army has possibly crossed whatever was left of 'the line' and have released action figures in Toys R Us stores in the US.
  • Rejoice! DivX support is coming soon to a Playstation 3 and Xbox360 near you! 
  • The rumours have since been confirmed, Ghostbusters – The Game is in development, with a screen shot being made public. 
  • Police in Amsterdam have made their first arrest for online property theft (virtual furniture to be precise).
  • Those eagerly awaiting Mass Effect, you're in luck, the release date has been broken in Australia and you can now pick up your copy of the sci-fi RPG dazzler from your local EBGames (AUS). A call to  my local store this morning has indeed confirmed that it has now been released.
  • Assassin's Creed is also been said to have been released a wee bit early for Australians, with Game Traders selling the heavily anticipated title a few days earlier than the 'official' November 21 release for Australia. This has yet to be confirmed (most likely after a lunch time stroll to Game Traders).
