Games.on.net and 3FL to Join Forces

Captain 3FL - Wednesday, May 16, 2012

Gamers in Australia have long had to divide their time between two quality institutions: Internode’s games.on.net service, and iiNet’s 3FL service, resulting in confusion over exactly who is the best gaming site in Australia to visit. The recent acquisition of Internode by iiNet offers a unique opportunity for us to solve that problem once and for all, as we are proud to announce that games.on.net and 3FL have agreed to put down their weapons and join forces for the betterment of gamers everywhere.

The new combined entity, which will continue to operate under the games.on.net brand, is positively bristling with features and resources. Backed by two massive ISP’s, a dedicated team of full-time staff and a pool of some of Australia’s best writers and journalists, the new games.on.net is a force to be reckoned with on the Australian gaming scene and will continue to deliver the latest news, reviews and interviews direct to our customers.

With over 8TB of files, trailers, mods and patches, a 10,000 player capacity over a dozen unique titles and 300,000 players visiting our servers each month, we’re not ashamed to boast that we’ve got the goods. As well as combined resources and staff, the communities for the two sites will also be merged to create a single forum with over 100,000 hardcore gamers. All existing games servers will remain in place, and the quota-free arrangements for both iiNet and Internode customers will continue unchanged.

To celebrate this massive milestone in Australian gaming, a new games.on.net website will be rolled out in July, marking the tenth anniversary of the service that began as the Internode Games Network. We hope you’ll join us there for the launch of what will now, officially, be the best gaming site in Australia. Stay tuned.

Head over to the 3FL forms to discuss the big news!

Internode Joins iiNet’s Freezone

El_Funko - Friday, March 23, 2012

After receiving our prototype Portal gun from Valve, we decided to test it out by opening a portal between iiNet and Internode’s servers.

Nothing has exploded yet, so it looks like iiNet and Internode customers can now enjoy a huge range of unmetered content without taking a hit to their monthly quota.

Internode folk can frag it up on hundreds of 3FL game servers, enjoy Freezone video content including Day[9] Daily casts, and download from ftp.iinet.net.au as quota-free traffic; while iiNet, Westnet and Netspace dudes and/or dudettes gain access to games.on.net’s extensive range of files, patches, demos, game servers, and the mighty mirror.internode.on.net repository.

More games, more videos and more downloads without destroying your monthly quota – that’s how we roll.

We’ve got big plans for iiNet and Internode gamers in the giant green pipeline, so stay tuned for more great news in the near future.

3FL and Adam Internet’s GamingSA merge

wob - Friday, November 20, 2009

It was only a year ago that iiNet Games joined forces with 3FL and from there we’ve seen an increase in players online from 200 to our current record of 1780.  Pretty impressive stuff if you ask me.

Coming of out this deal with Adam Internet, the GamingSA servers will be moved onto 3FL hardware graciously provided by Adam Internet in their South Australian datacentres.  From here we’ll be replicating their current game server offering and expanding it from day 1.

Over the weekend you can expect to see the first new 3FL servers start to come online.  Initially we’ll add some local Team Fortress 2 and Left 4 Dead 2 servers and then begin the process of migrating the GamingSA servers onto the new (very powerful) hardware.

What does this mean for GamingSA gamers?

The GamingSA servers you know and love will become 3FL servers in the near future.  Key differences you will notice are:

  • Servers will be named 3FL
  • Servers will be running on very powerful brand new hardware

Doesn’t sound too bad to me. Map cycles, configurations, mods etc will all be maintained and we’re extending an invitation to all GamingSA game admins to come on over to 3FL to continue.

Also please note: We’ll also be merging the userbases of the 3FL and GamingSA forums, so there is no need to sign up over here on 3FL.  We’ll bring your account over for you with your post count.

What does this mean for current 3FL gamers?

Freezone access to new servers in SA for a variety of games all with established communities and admins.  GamingSA actually run servers for quite a few games we don’t even have (Gmod.. woo!  giant magenta phallus rockets for everyone!

Look forward to seeing you all on the servers.
