The Passing for L4D2 out now
Frozen Hell - Friday, April 23, 2010
Full release from Valve is as follows:
The first game add-on for Left 4 Dead 2 (L4D2) brings the original Left 4 Dead Survivors down south for a meeting with the L4D2 cast, while delivering new single-player, multiplayer and co-operative gameplay for the PC and Xbox 360.
“The Passing” features 3 new maps, new weekly game modes (Mutations), a new “uncommon common” zombie class (the fallen survivor), melee weapon (golf club), firearm (M-60), support for infected bot play in Versus, 10 new achievements and more!
All of the 3FL Left 4 Dead 2 servers have been updated, so either join the 3FL Steam group or search for an Official Valve Dedicated server and you’ll more than likely land on a 3FL one!

Left 4 Dead 2 competition winners
Frozen Hell - Thursday, January 14, 2010
We had all kinds of entries, with some far exceeding the 25 words or less criteria (seriously ppl, some of them were almost novels!), some being very bland indeed (e.g. “I can’t remember what I was doing 9 years ago”) and even some poetry, as you’ll see with one of the winning entries that you’ll see below.
So without further ado, I present the winning entries as follows (in no particular order):
#1: A parasite took over my body causing me to throw up, shamble about and get very angry at normal people. Then I gave birth. Braaaaaiiiiiinnnnss!!
#2: I would have been in New Zealand crying my 9 year old eyes out because my parents announced suddenly that we were moving to Australia.
#3: terrible at school, a flop in sports
pudgy bastard too tight shorts
split the arse while bending over
showed them pretty girls my clover![]()
#4: I had just been shot dead and buried in a shallow grave. After nine years decoposing I am hungry for manflesh, and 3FL birthday cake.
There were quite a few other really good entries as well, but there could only be 4 winners. The winners have been notified, and will receive their copies of Left 4 Dead 2 zombie slaying goodness shortly.

Valve Official Dedicated servers now on 3FL!
Frozen Hell - Tuesday, December 8, 2009
So you might be asking what does this mean? This means that when you load up a game and select “Valve Official Dedicated” as the server type you’d like to search for when creating a game lobby, you’ll be landing on a 3FL run Left 4 Dead 2 server! So for those who could never get a handle on those damn search keys or had troubles using the Steam group server functionality, you should now get your dose of Freezone Left 4 Dead 2 gaming goodness by landing on one of our exclusive Official Dedicated servers.
You can check out the Serverspy page where we have labelled the servers “(Valve Official)” that are being run as Official Dedicated servers. We are continuing to run other servers on top of these ones so that we can make custom changes (*coughs* appid) and run mods and/or custom campaigns when they become available as well.
So not only do we have several hundred Left 4 Dead 2 servers, more than anyone else in Australia, Valve are trusting us to provide Official Dedicated servers!
As you were.
Over 2 million copies of Left 4 Dead 2 sold
Frozen Hell - Wednesday, December 2, 2009
In contrast, back in September Valve noted that they had sold 3 million copies of the original Left 4 Dead since its release back in November 2008. So with 2 million copies sold in just 2 weeks, it looks like it won’t be long before the sequel breaks sales results from the first iteration of the game.
One other thing that Lombardi noted is that they will be releasing news of the first DLC for Left 4 Dead 2 soon, which hopefully for the PC platform will be free like the DLC for the original game was.
Quite an impressive feat for a game developer that is still privately owned, certainly shows that you don’t need to be an Activision-Blizzard or an EA to produce very popular games all without skimping on the PC platform like a lot of developers seem to be doing these days.

Michael Atkinson defends lack of R18+ gaming classification
wob - Monday, November 16, 2009

Kotaku have an article up with excerpts from a letter from South Australia’s Attorney-General Michael Atkinson. The letter is in response to a gamer concerned with our lack of an R18+ classification for computer games and provides Atkinson’s view in quite a lot of detail. The full letter (scanned PDF) is available here. Watch out for Evony ads.
