I keep telling myself I’m not going to buy another ridiculously expensive edition of a game just to get stuff I won’t care about in a years time, but damn – look at that chest. I can probably fit all the stuff I got from other collector’s editions inside it for safe keeping.

The trailer is ripe with Redcoats being toma-hawked in the head, huge pitched battles with sweet musket action, snowy frontier landscapes, and a hint of Man vs. Bear action. Yes, we will be fighting that bear in AC3 no matter how much PETA whines about it. That alone is worth the price of the game.

If DOTA and Contra made sweet, sweet love to each other, Awesomenauts would be the result of that union. Two teams of cartoon heroes battling it out in a side-scrolling beat ‘em up arena as they work to drive their robot  army into the enemy’s base and win the big bucks.

My favourite part is the respawn minigame where you get to blast down to the level in a little rocket ship, collecting coins as you fall. Well, that and the amazing intro song which looks like an amazing Saturday morning cartoon from the 80s that I somehow missed.

Picking up from the incredibly abrupt ending to Crysis 2, Prophet is heading back into New York City which is now completely overgrown with trees for some reason.

I’m not exactly sure on the time frame between Crysis 2 and 3, but unless Prophet retired from super-soldiering for a few years in-between games, I don’t know why everything suddenly looks all I Am Legend. Well, whatever. He’s rocking a sweet compound bow now, so I’ll ignore the foliage-based continuity errors for now.

EA’s announcement described the setting for Crysis 3 in a thoroughly less inane manner than I did:

Players take on the role of ‘Prophet’ as he returns to New York, only to discover that the city has been encased in a Nanodome created by the corrupt Cell Corporation. The New York City Liberty Dome is a veritable urban rainforest teeming with overgrown trees, dense swamplands and raging rivers. Within the Liberty Dome, seven distinct and treacherous environments become known as the Seven Wonders. This dangerous new world demands advanced weapons and tactics. Prophet will utilise a lethal composite bow, an enhanced Nanosuit and devastating alien tech to become the deadliest hunter on the planet.

As is the norm these days, several pre-order packs will be available from select retailers and Origin offering players the chance to get their hands on early access multiplayer unlocks for guns, camouflage and exclusive dog tags. Normally I would say this is a cheap marketing tactic, but one of the packs includes early access to the compound bow in multiplayer.

The Mechromancer is a female human/machine hybrid with a robot arm, spiky red hair and a giant robot buddy called D374-TP also known as Deathtrap.

The DLC will be free to those who pre-order Borderlands 2, or as paid DLC for anyone else but no price has been announced yet.

They also revealed that players will be able to customise their character with different costumes that drop as boss loot, and different heads. A unique character head will be available to those who played the original Borderlands.

However it will bring millions of guns, a series of epic boss fights and a new focus on fluid quest lines in a move away from the monotonous “fetch and return” quests of the first game.

VG24/7 has a whole 7 minutes of gameplay footage with commentary from Steve Gibson, Studio Vice President of Gearbox Software, as he explains the design decisions behind the key features of Borderlands 2.

September is too far away.

The sale will be happening both online and in-store, while stocks last. I’m guessing the stocks won’t be lasting too long, because some of the deals are insane.

The success of the previous game, Transformers: War for Cybertron, was due to 3 key areas – quality third person action, robust multiplayer modes and not being based on the horrendous Micheal Bay films. That last one will go a long way to gaining the admiration of oldschool Transformers fans everywhere.

Fall of Cybertron seeks to build on those successes by fine-tuning some of those gameplay aspects, dropping the horde co-op mode and revamping the weapons, while bringing some huge fan favourites to the table. Players will get the chance to take control of Grimlock, with his own system of building rage so he can transform into his Tyrannosaurus Rex mode, and to see the massive combiners Bruticus and Metroplex battle it out.

The confined corridors and open air balconies of this multi-story apartment complex are packed full of every destructible object the Frostbyte 2.0 engine has to offer. I think almost every second of gameplay in this map will includes at least 3 things exploding in a shower of debris.

The Close Quarters DLC will arrive in June and include 4 new maps, 10 new weapons and a host of new achievements and dog tags to collect.

The Close Quarters DLC will be arriving first in June, focussing on intense infantry combat with “tight level design and vertical gameplay” across 4 new maps and 10 new weapons. They specifically stated the maps were designed to create a “highly competitive environment,” so hopefully it’s not 4 new versions of Operation Metro’s chokepoints of doom.

The Armoured Kill DLC will bring more of what Battlefield 3 does best – vehicle mayhem. Armoured Kill will arrive in September and add new tanks, ATVs, and mobile artillery to the game along with new vehicle focussed maps, including “the biggest map in Battlefield history.” Fans of Caspian Border, rejoice!

The final DLC pack, End Game, is a mystery at this point. Other than the news that it will arrive at the end of the year, the only other bit of info we have so far is that the cover art features a dude holding a knife. Maybe it’s some sort of knife party mode.

DICE hasn’t announced any pricing info for the DLC yet, but it’s probably safe to assume we’ll be looking at a similar price to the Back to Karkand DLC at $14.99 each.
