Minecraft 1.6 Patch Coming This Week

Notch posted to his blog earlier that Minecraft will be receiving Patch 1.6 later this week, included in the patch are craftable Maps and a fully functioning Nether for use in multiplayer mode.
As this patch is most likely guaranteed to break Bukkit which is running on the 3FL Server, we will be running Vanilla Minecraft when the patch is released until updates are available.
Minecraft 1.6 Patchnotes:
- Added Nether support to multiplayer
- Added craftable maps
- Added hatches
- Added tall grass in some biomes
- Mushrooms now spreads (very) slowly
- Added server property view-distance. Sets the radius of terrain updates (in chunks) to send to the players. Range 3-15, default 10.
Portal 2 Update Released

Valve have released an update for Portal 2 on the PC and Mac which aims to fix a few issues with Alt-Tab crashing the game. Also included in the patch was Updated Localization Files, and a new method for handling Mac OSX Crashes.
In addition to the above changes Valve have also fixed a few bugs in the Robot Enrichment Center, fixed the game from crashing when changing video settings and not exiting the game, and also fixed the issue where a player would get stuck at the start of Chapter 6.

Minecraft 1.4 Update

The latest Minecraft patch has gone live, bringing a few new changes (Including them tameable wolves!).
Unfortunately Statistics and Achievements have been postponed until a later patch due to the team not having enough time to include them in this update.

Minecraft Patch 1.4:
- Added tameable wolves
- Added cookies
- Sleeping in a bed now resets your spawn position
- New Minecraft logo
- Holding shift while climbing will hang on to the ladder
- Spiders will no longer trample crops
Until CraftBukkit and all associated addons are updated to Minecraft 1.4, the 3FL Servers will be running Vanilla Minecraft.

Tamable Wolves Coming To Minecraft

On Friday, Notch posted on his official blog that the latest addition to Minecraft will be a tamable wolf pet.
Modern Warfare 2 Receives PS3 Update

Infinity Ward, Developer of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has released a patch for the PS3 Version of its online multi-player shooter today.
The patch was aimed at the multi-player component of the game, attempting to remove the ability to cheat during online games.
“The Modern Warfare 2 patch to address hacking is now live on PlayStation 3, Other platforms pending. Have any problems, please let me know.” – Robert Bowling, Infinity Ward
The hacking and griefing in Modern Warfare 2 has been around for a while, but when the PlayStation 3′s Internal Security was broken things just seemed to get worse.
Infinity Ward says it will be working with Sony and changing the way it handles its online security in future games.
PlayStation 3 System Update Coming

Sony have announced that they will be releasing a updated firmware for their PlayStation 3 console which has recently been opened up to custom firmware, hacks and illegal backups.
The news appeared on the official PlayStation blog and mentions there will be a new system update deployed soon that adds a security patch.
“A new PS3 system software update, v3.56, will be released soon. This is a minor update that adds a security patch.” – Eric Lempel, VP of Network Operations Americas
Unofficial sources suggest that Sony might be looking at assigning unique serial keys for each game it ships going forward.
TF2 Update – More Hats!

Added 3 new hats that can be worn by any class.
- “Towering Pillar of Hats”
- “Noble Amassment of Hats”
- “Modest Pile of Hat”
Added Propaganda contest winners’ hats for First Place, First Runner-up, and Second Runner-up.
Added “Edit Loadout” button to the class menu.
Changed the main menu background to randomly use the Red, Blue, and Soldier/Demo background images.
Fixed Snipers being able to shoot enemies through gates.
Fixed Linux servers not properly reconnecting to Steam when they lose their connection.
Fixed stickies being destructible before they’re stuck to something.
Fixed the return progress bar above a dropped flag not animating if the return time on the flag is less than 30 seconds.
Fixed the CTF HUD not properly handling flags being disabled/enabled during the round.
Fixed player health panels sometimes using the wrong animations for buffed or low health values.
Updated the net_showevents convar to be marked as a cheat.
Updated the main menu news buttons to direct players to the most recent TF2 update and the TF2 blog.
Updated Italian localization strings.
Updated the custom TF2 fonts with Polish characters.
Updated CP_Gorge.
- Added more cover outside of the initial BLU spawn area.
- Added a forward spawn for the BLU team after Cap1 is captured.
- Added another access point to the upper level from the front of the RED base
- Added more cover in the room just before Cap2.
- Decreased RED team’s respawn time while they own Cap1.
- Fixed a few areas where players would sometimes become stuck.
